So my save has been getting slower and slower and slower (several minutes) to load over the last week. This morning I notice that it's completely dead now. I have to go back about 12 hours to get a save to load. My current 3-4 saves will fully load (slowly) but the game crashes to desktop about 3 seconds after entering the game (looks like everything loaded in the few seconds I can see). I definitely think this is related to the amount of terraforming I've done in my world, not so much about how many machines, etc there are. Guess I'll take a break on this game for awhile LOL
Ugh, sorry to hear that. We've got reports of similar save game corruptions and they're working on getting fixes out as soon as possible. Sorry for the frustration!
Alright...if you guys wanna look at the save let me know. I don't know that it's "corrupted"...given that it got progressively worse over the week. It seems more like the game can't handle it after it's loaded...especially since there are 3 or 4 consecutive saves that won't load but all the previous ones will....seems unlikely they all got corrupted.
About 10mb ... I'm not at home but I'll add the file shortly @epiktokles
Yeah it does seem like it eventually hits a threshold where it can no longer be loaded. If you can post the save here I'll definitely pass it forward. I haven't actually heard of this issue happening due to so much terrain deformation, usually it's due to large factories. So this would definitely be great data to have!
I think I also hit the limit for space cleared out in the world, but mine was after 100 hours. I also had to restart the game because it was just crashing the whole time. The second time around I severely restricted myself in terms of how much I cleared out and I was able to complete the game without crashing.
Yea, that save was also over 100 hours. I kind of did the same thing, I restarted, and just now got to about where I was before, although much cleaner this time and not nearly as much cleared out. I also notice that even though the factory overall is probably a bit bigger, the save file is half the size of the one that died.
Here's an example of one file that won't load. Or, will load (really slowly) but then bomb after loading in. One thing I notice is that I have another completely different save that has more machines, etc than this save but the file is half the size....so I stand by my original comment that the terraforming is the bulk of the problem.
Hmm, is file upload bugged here? I keep uploading the file but it doesn't seem like there's a link to it.
I really hope that in the finished version of the game we will not be limited to how much space we can clear out as that is really one of the main attractions of this game.
