Official Modding Support

Hello, right now game is missing modding support in practical way. What I would suggest is having a modding support similar to Factorio's. I would also love to see if we have a mod platform integrated into game be it using steam workshop or Fire Hose hosted one. I am wondering what is your stance on this one as I have checked out the modding community on Discord server and it was all hacky changes that would be hard to merge if you are using multiple mods at the same time.

Also if you don't act fast and modding community comes up with hacky solutions it will be hard to correct in later stages.

We don't currently have the bandwidth to support mods at this time! Mod support would take away dev time from building the game itself.

We do hope to support mods further down the line, but we just don't have the time right now.

@laurenfhg thank you for clarification. I hope you will give thought to how to make the game moddable from early design, I have seen many developers pushing mod support to later stages of development and never having a first party modding support due to complications.

On another note: Topic is showing "awaiting for moderation" to me. I am not sure if that hides it from search result, just wanted to notify you.

we have given it thought! it's just not something we have the bandwidth for right now.

FWIW, we are only at 0.1.1 of Techtonica, and it's very "vanilla" compared to what 1.0 will look like. Expect a lot of big changes!

also, thanks for pointing that out! should be fixed now 🙂
